Uttarakhand CM Dhami orders probe into threats against lineman
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered a formal investigation into allegations that a local politician threatened a lineman and his family. Balak Ram Chauhan, a lineman at the Tyuni sub-station, filed a complaint alleging that Chaman Singh, a former Zila Panchayat Chairman, pressured him via telephone to enroll his two daughters in the Congress party.
Chauhan claims that after refusing these demands, he was subjected to verbal abuse and death threats. Chaman Singh is the brother of Pritam Singh, the MLA for the Chakrata constituency and Chairman of the Congress Campaign Committee.
Chief Minister Dhami spoke with Chauhan’s daughter to offer support and promised the family complete security. He has directed Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure strict legal action is taken.
