Uttarakhand CM seeks help to rescue citizen in Saudi Arabia
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has requested the intervention of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to facilitate the safe repatriation of Indramani Nautiyal from Saudi Arabia.
Nautiyal, a resident of Tehri Garhwal who moved to Saudi Arabia in 2018 for work, is reportedly being held in a hostage-like situation. The situation stems from a 2018 road accident involving a truck Nautiyal was driving for Pick Roads and Contracting Company. While Nautiyal served a one-year prison sentence following judicial proceedings, the company owner has allegedly failed to pay a fine of approximately 9 lakh Saudi Riyals (roughly ₹2.29 crore) related to insurance and registration deficiencies.
The Chief Minister’s office stated that Nautiyal is being pressured to pay the outstanding amount, causing severe hardship for his family. Dhami has urged the Indian government to provide necessary legal and financial assistance to secure his release and return.
