Uttarakhand Leaders Address Public Grievances and Push for Census Reform

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met residents and representatives in Khatima, listening to grievances and directing officials to resolve complaints promptly. He distributed assistive devices to persons with disabilities and senior citizens, including wheelchairs, hearing aids and battery‑operated rickshaws, and handed over vehicle keys to local women’s groups under the Gramotthan REAP Scheme.

Separately, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt urged the central government to adopt a special mountainous census model for the 2027 count. He argued that migration from border villages threatens national security and that a participatory "Apni Ganana‑Apna Gaon" approach would ensure accurate population data and appropriate resource allocation for Uttarakhand’s remote areas.
