Uttarakhand police file FIR against Mufti over alleged madrasa threats

Uttarakhand police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Ulema Mufti Mujeeb, the principal of Kheda Madrasa, following a viral video of an allegedly inflammatory speech. The speech was reportedly delivered during a Milad-un-Nabi procession at Trishul Chowk in Rudrapur on August 26.

In the video, Mufti Mujeeb allegedly issued threats regarding the state government’s crackdown on illegal madrasas, stating that people should “wait and see what Muslims would do” if the institutions were shut down. He also raised concerns regarding the municipal corporation's takeover of Eidgah land.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the government would take strict action and would not be intimidated by such threats. Dhami asserted that the era of “appeasement for the sake of votes” has ended and emphasized that the state operates according to constitutional norms and the rule of law. He further noted that the administration would continue its efforts to clear land from illegal occupation and encroachment.
