Uttarakhand reports Rs 1.01 lakh crore in active investment projects
Uttarakhand Industries Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey has defended the state government against investment allegations made by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Pandey stated that investment projects valued at over Rs 1.01 lakh crore have already reached the implementation stage.
The secretary noted that these developments follow the Global Investors Summit held in December 2023, which resulted in Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately Rs 3.56 lakh crore. To facilitate these investments, the state appointed ‘Nivesh Mitras’ (investment facilitators) to assist investors and resolve administrative challenges.
Pandey emphasized that the state’s investment policy aims to balance economic growth with ecological preservation, given that approximately 70% of Uttarakhand is forested. The core philosophy focuses on attracting investments that prioritize job creation and maximum employment opportunities. He added that project data remains transparent and accessible via government portals.
