Uttarakhand to exempt Agniveers from government job exams

The Uttarakhand government is preparing to amend recruitment rules to provide exemptions for former Agniveers in state government job applications. Following recommendations from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the state is considering waiving written examinations, physical efficiency tests, and physical standard tests for individuals who have completed their four-year military service under the Agniveer scheme.

Central Home Secretary Govind Mohan has advised Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anandvardhan to implement these changes. The proposal aims to recognize the discipline, tactical training, and rigorous physical standards already met by these youths during their military tenure. Once the state cabinet approves the proposal, necessary amendments to recruitment regulations will be made to facilitate their transition into civil services or security forces.
