Uttarakhand to host 100-mile Himalayan ultra run
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the 100-mile Himalayan Endurance Ultra Run, scheduled for the first week of May next year. The race is designed to promote adventure tourism and create livelihood opportunities in the state's border regions.
The proposed route will begin at Mana Pass, situated at an altitude of approximately 5,600 metres, and proceed through Badrinath and Joshimath before finishing in Auli. The initiative aims to place high-altitude Uttarakhand on the global map for adventure sports while supporting local economies, including homestay operators, guides, and transport providers.
Dhami made the announcement while participating in the Adi Kailash Parikrama Run 2.0 in Gunji, Pithoragarh district. He noted that such events highlight the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the border areas, which the government is working to develop as vital hubs rather than remote outposts.
