Uttarkashi administration enhances Char Dham Yatra infrastructure and sanitation

The Uttarkashi district administration has launched several initiatives to improve the Char Dham Yatra experience, focusing on sanitation and tourism infrastructure.

In Yamunotri Dham, a specialized campaign is underway to manage the scientific disposal of ritual waste. Following instructions from District Magistrate Prashant Arya, Sulabh International has deployed 40 environmental workers and four supervisors to clean the trekking route from Janakichatti Barrier to the Yamunotri temple complex. To facilitate the transport of religious remains and waste, the administration has deployed 30 mules to carry heavy loads to the dumping yard at Janakichatti.

Simultaneously, the administration is upgrading tourism facilities by converting old passenger rest houses into modern selfie and view points. A project worth approximately 32.36 lakh rupees has been approved for 14 sites across various blocks, including Bhatwari, Naugaon, Purola, and Mori. These sites, which include locations near Gangotri Dham and the Yamunotri route, aim to provide better rest areas and photography opportunities for pilgrims while boosting local employment and regional tourism.
