UTTN runs oil engineering course for students in partnership with Consorcio Petrolero 5M

On July 28, 2026, the Universidad Tecnológica de Tamaulipas Norte (UTTN) held a short‑term course titled “Ingeniería Petrolera para No Petroleros” in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. The program was attended by students enrolled in the Engineering in Maintenance, Petroleum specialization.

Rector Tadeo Luebbert Iberri said the training was delivered in coordination with the regional oil firm Consorcio Petrolero 5M del Golfo. The curriculum covered the fundamentals of petroleum engineering, including hydrocarbon origins, exploration, drilling, production, surface facilities, operational safety and field equipment, as well as maintenance reliability, fault prevention, industrial safety and operational efficiency.

The university presented the course as part of a broader strategy promoted by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and the Tamaulipas Secretary of Education Miguel Ángel Valdez García to strengthen ties between academia and the hydrocarbon sector, ensuring higher‑education programs remain relevant to the state’s strategic economic priorities.
