Uusimaa police conduct high-speed chases and arrests
Police in the Uusimaa region of Finland reported a weekend marked by high-speed chases and multiple traffic violations. In Vantaa, a 22-year-old man was caught driving at 201 km/h on the Tuusula motorway, resulting in an immediate temporary driving ban and the seizure of his license.
In Karkila, a suspect involved in a car theft led police on a high-speed pursuit, reaching speeds exceeding 200 km/h in areas with 40–100 km/h limits. The chase ended after the driver struck a traffic sign and abandoned the vehicle. Following a search involving drones and police dogs, officers conducted a forced entry into a residence where they discovered suspected stolen property and criminal tools.
Additionally, a 31-year-old motorcyclist was apprehended in Korso after a 20-minute chase. The individual is suspected of aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, driving without a valid license, and resisting police. Authorities also noted an unusual number of drivers operating without valid licenses and vehicles with manipulated emissions during the weekend operations.
