UW‑Madison Extension Launches Cattle Handling Workshop for Wisconsin Farmers

The University of Wisconsin‑Madison Extension Dairy program is hosting a two‑day, bilingual workshop on best practices for cattle handling and medication administration. The sessions, scheduled for August 27‑28, 2026, will take place at the Dane County Extension building in Madison, Wisconsin, with an English session on the first day and a Spanish session on the second.

Dr. Raúl Landeo, a bilingual dairy veterinarian from the Lodi Veterinary Clinic, will lead the hands‑on training, covering vaccine and medication safety, proper storage and handling of animal health products, and techniques to reduce stress and improve herd performance. The workshop aims to boost animal welfare, increase livestock productivity, and enhance farm profitability. Registration is required by August 25, costs $20 (including lunch and materials), and inquiries can be directed to Alison Pfau, the regional dairy educator for several Wisconsin counties.
