Uxbridge attacker given indefinite hospital order for fatal stabbing
Dawood Safi, 28, has been handed an indefinite hospital order following a fatal stabbing spree in Uxbridge. Safi pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility at Southwark Crown Court after psychiatric evidence determined he was experiencing psychotic delusions at the time of the attack.
The incident occurred on October 27, 2025, in Midhurst Gardens. Safi fatally stabbed 49-year-old Wayne Broadhurst, a council street cleaner, at least 14 times while Mr. Broadhurst was walking his dog. The attack was described by the prosecution as a “frenzied, random, and completely unprovoked assault.”
During the rampage, Safi also attacked his landlord, Shahzad Farrukh, and a 14-year-old boy. Safi, who arrived in the UK in 2020, had reportedly suffered a mental health collapse in the days preceding the violence, experiencing paranoid delusions that his family was conspiring against him. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Safi was convicted of attempting to murder Mr. Farrukh and pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm against the teenager and possession of a knife. Mrs. Justice Cutts ordered that Safi be held indefinitely in a secure hospital for mental health treatment and recommended his deportation.
