UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa named best South American resort

UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa, located in Trancoso, Bahia, has been named the best resort in South America in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. This marks the eighth time the establishment has received this recognition. Additionally, the hotel ranked ninth among the top 50 resorts globally.

The property is noted for its unique approach to luxury, featuring 18 exclusive houses, many of which are restored century-old buildings in the historic Quadrado of Trancoso. The project, initiated by designer Wilbert Das and Bob Shevlin, utilizes traditional construction techniques and repurposed materials to preserve local culture and aesthetics.

The awards were determined by a vote of nearly 800,000 readers worldwide. Other notable South American mentions in the top five included VIK Chile, Tierra Patagonia, Bahía VIK José Ignacio, and Fasano Trancoso, which secured fifth place.
