Uyuni authorities investigate body found in sewage tanks

Authorities in Uyuni are investigating the discovery of a body found floating in sewage tanks in the Campero area. The discovery was made by an 11-year-old child, prompting the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc) to conduct a legal removal of the remains and launch an investigation.

Colonel Pompeo Sánchez, a police commander, stated that investigators are looking into whether the remains belong to a male reported missing since August 10. The identity of the victim is yet to be officially confirmed. Local residents have expressed concern regarding the safety of the sewage tanks, calling for increased police patrols and the installation of perimeter fencing to prevent similar incidents.
