Azerbaijan advances energy production and industrial localization

Azerbaijan is marking several economic and industrial milestones. The “Şərqi Azəri” platform is celebrating 20 years of oil production, having yielded over 645 million barrels (87 million tons) to date. The platform remains a significant contributor to the overall 4.7 billion barrel output of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field.

In the industrial sector, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Turan Fibron Pipe LLC have signed a Heads of Agreement to localize the manufacture of advanced flexible composite pipe solutions. This project aims for up to 80% local content, utilizing technology from Austria’s Fibron Pipe GesmbH to improve pipeline efficiency and reduce emissions.

On the investment front, Neuberger has expressed openness to partnering with local investors in Azerbaijan. The firm maintains a long-standing relationship with the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ), having allocated $775 million to Neuberger-managed vehicles since 2015.

Additionally, Azerbaijan and Hungary are exploring expanded cooperation in renewable energy, transportation, and the development of an energy corridor through the Caspian and Black Seas to Europe.
