Uzbekistan and China expand strategic partnership and trade ties

Uzbekistan and China are deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership through expanded political, parliamentary, and interparty cooperation. Following a meeting between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and a Chinese delegation led by Liu Haixing, both nations emphasized the unprecedented depth of their bilateral ties.

Economic cooperation remains a cornerstone of the relationship, with trade volumes exceeding $17 billion. More than 6,000 Chinese companies are currently operating in Uzbekistan, focusing on sectors such as energy, renewable energy, construction, and transport. Significant investments are being directed toward solar and wind energy projects to support Uzbekistan’s economic modernization.

In addition to economic and energy ties, the two countries are prioritizing educational cooperation, including plans to establish branches of leading Chinese universities within Uzbekistan to develop skilled human capital.
