Uzbekistan Boosts Logistics with Georgia Deal and New Domestic Transport Hubs

Uzbekistan and Georgia held talks in Tbilisi, where Uzbek Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili met with leaders of 22 Georgian companies. The discussions focused on expanding trade, investment and transport‑logistics cooperation, covering sectors such as industry, construction, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, energy and oil‑gas. Plans include expanding TBC Bank’s operations in Uzbekistan, creating an investment platform, and establishing a fund for industrial projects. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is scheduled to visit Georgia for further talks with President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

Separately, Uzbekistan’s presidential administration proposed designating six districts—Khanabad, Angren, Yangiul, Ohangaron, Olot and Termiz—as specialised transport‑logistics zones. The plan allocates 300 hectares for logistics centres, offers up to $200 million in low‑interest credit lines, and outlines infrastructure projects such as customs terminals, railway border posts and large‑scale logistics parks. The zones aim to serve transit routes linking China, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Europe and Pakistan, positioning Uzbekistan as a regional gateway.
