Uzbekistan eliminated from 2026 World Cup after 1‑3 defeat to DR Congo

Uzbekistan’s national football team lost 1–3 to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final group‑stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The defeat ended Uzbekistan’s tournament, as they finished bottom of Group K and were eliminated from the competition.

Striker Eldor Shomurodov, the team captain, opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Congo equalised before half‑time and added two more goals in the second half. The match was attended by 68,239 spectators. Uzbekistan’s early exit follows a previous loss to Portugal in the same group.
