Uzbekistan engineers showcase sign-language glove and medical tech

Young engineers in Uzbekistan have showcased various technological innovations during the Kelajak muhandislari (Engineers of the Future) national competition. Organized by the Uzbek Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the event received 1,925 applications, resulting in 90 finalists who were recognized in Tashkent on September 29.

Notable award-winning projects include ImoVox, a sensor-equipped glove developed by engineering student Abduqodir Latifjonov. Designed to bridge communication gaps, the prototype uses sensors to track three-dimensional hand and finger movements, converting Uzbek sign language into spoken words through artificial intelligence.

Other highlighted inventions include a device capable of performing six basic health measurements in approximately 90 seconds, developed by Asadbek Urunov, and a mining innovation aimed at reducing energy consumption. The projects range from early-stage prototypes to technologies already being utilized outside of university laboratories.
