Uzbekistan sees rapid rise in foreign‑invested enterprises across trade, industry and energy

According to the National Statistics Committee, as of 1 July 2026 Uzbekistan hosted 20 502 enterprises with foreign capital involvement, including 15 891 wholly foreign‑owned firms and 4 611 joint‑venture companies. The sectors attracting the most foreign investment are trade, industry, construction and information technology, with more than 7 200 enterprises established in the trade sector alone.

In a parallel development, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan signed a series of agreements during a government‑level meeting in Tashkent. The accords cover joint projects such as acquiring oil‑gas blocks in Karakalpakstan, constructing a Ritz‑Carlton hotel in Tashkent, developing the Sea Breeze tourist complex in Chorvoq, and establishing a cotton‑textile cluster. Additional cooperation will target construction‑material production in Qashqadaryo, automotive expansion, dairy and chemical manufacturing, and aims to raise bilateral trade turnover to US$1 billion. An implementation programme outlining specific goods, timelines and responsible parties will be prepared.

Both reports highlight Uzbekistan’s expanding role as a destination for foreign capital and its strategic partnerships to boost industrial output and trade.
