Uzbekistan’s Trade with China Surges in First Half of 2026

China’s total trade with Central Asia rose 6.5% year‑on‑year to $52.94 billion in the first half of 2026, with a trade surplus of roughly two‑to‑one in its favour. Uzbekistan was the region’s leading growth driver, expanding its bilateral trade with China by 31% to $8.87 billion, while Kazakhstan’s trade rose 25% to $27.2 billion and Kyrgyzstan’s fell sharply.

Uzbekistan’s non‑gold exports jumped 32.2% to $14.4 billion in the same period, led by services ($5.7 billion) and strong gains in textiles, mining, metallurgy and food products. Russia remained the biggest export market ($2.4 billion) followed by China ($2.18 billion). The country also added seven new destinations, reaching a total of 211 export markets.
