Uzina Mecanică Sadu to negotiate ammunition production deal with US Ballistics
The Board of Directors of Uzina Mecanică Sadu has approved the commencement of direct negotiations with the American company US Ballistics. The proposed deal involves leasing production spaces at the Sadu II platform to develop a new type of ammunition manufacturing facility.
Interim Defense Minister Radu Miruță stated that the negotiations aim for a contract valued at approximately 1.4 million euros annually, featuring advance payments. This project is expected to revitalize the industrial platform, which has faced low activity in recent years. The investment is projected to create around 150 new jobs in the initial stage, with the potential for further growth.
The decision follows a visit to the Sadu I and II mechanical plants in Bumbești-Jiu by Ministers Radu Miruță and Irineu Darău. The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen Romania's defense industry capabilities and competitiveness.
