Vũ Phạm Diễm My remembered as a forgotten ‘ngọc nữ’ of Vietnamese showbiz

Vũ Phạm Diễm My, known professionally as Diễm My 9X, was born in 1990 and began acting at age five. Over more than a decade she became one of Vietnam’s most celebrated “ngọc nữ” – a term for top beauties in Vbiz – praised for her clear‑eyed looks, natural acting style and scandal‑free image.

Her breakout role was as Chi in the 2009 TV series Mùa Hè Sôi Động, portraying a lively 19‑year‑old orphan that resonated with the 8X‑9X generation. She later appeared in numerous films and series such as Mỹ Nhân Kế, Để Mai Tính 2, Kung Fu Phở, Chạy Đi Rồi Tính, Cô Ba Sài Gòn, Gái Già Lắm Chiêu, 1990 and Tình Yêu Và Tham Vọng. In Mỹ Nhân Kế, directed by Nguyễn Quang Dũng, she shared the screen with celebrated actresses Tăng Thanh Hà, Thanh Hằng and Kim Dung, further cementing her status as a leading beauty of Vietnamese cinema.
