V12 engines face decline due to emissions and electrification

The V12 engine, long considered the pinnacle of automotive engineering for its combination of power, smoothness, and prestige, is facing extinction. While historically used by luxury brands like Rolls-Royce, Cadillac, and Hispano-Suiza for refined travel, and later by performance marques such as Ferrari and Lamborghini, the technology is being phased out.

Strict emission regulations and the industry-wide shift toward electrification are the primary drivers behind the decline of the twelve-cylinder engine. Although a few manufacturers continue to produce them, the era of the V12 being a standard feature in high-end luxury and supercars is rapidly coming to an end.
