Vía Parque de San Gabriel experiences significant deterioration

The Vía Parque de San Gabriel, a 1.5 kilometer pedestrian connection between San Gabriel and Babel, is facing increasing deterioration. Residents report that potholes, loose stones, and puddles caused by irrigation systems have turned the path into an obstacle course, making walking and exercising difficult and potentially dangerous.

Local residents note that the terrain is particularly irregular near the highway bridge and the Barranco de las Ovejas area. Despite the Alicante City Council announcing in November 2025 an intention to include this section in a citywide renovation plan backed by a two million euro conservation contract, neighbors claim they have seen no improvements nearly a year later.
