Vía Rosario launches 228D bus line connecting Zárate and San Nicolás
Vía Rosario is launching the 228D bus line on Monday, September 21, restoring the connection between Zárate and San Nicolás. The service, which replaces the previous Metropol line, will utilize six units equipped with air conditioning, reclining seats, and luggage compartments.
The route will connect Zárate with several intermediate locations, including Lima, Baradero, San Pedro, and Ramallo, with plans to eventually extend service to Rosario. During the first two days of operation, buses will carry two staff members—a driver and an assistant—to help passengers navigate the new system.
Regarding payments, the service will not initially use the SUBE card. Instead, Vía Rosario is implementing a proprietary rechargeable card offering discounts for frequent travelers. Passengers can currently pay using virtual wallets via QR codes or cash at designated ticket offices. A full schedule authorized by the Buenos Aires Ministry of Transport will be implemented following an initial period of reduced hours.
