Vaasa Sport reports 741,000 euro loss following poor season
Hockey Team Vaasan Sport Oy reported a financial loss of 741,000 euros for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. The company attributed the deficit to a poor sporting season, which had significant negative impacts on business operations. During the previous season, the club finished last in the league's regular series, following coaching changes involving Juuso Hahl and Doug Shedden, as well as player sales.
Despite the loss, the company stated that equity remains at a stable level and the balance sheet includes a debt-free league share. Management noted that several measures implemented in early 2026 helped improve the final result for the fiscal year.
A new board of directors was elected during the annual general meeting on September 21. Juha Päivike was appointed chairman, with Matti Manner serving as vice chairman. Other new board members include Mikael Hallbäck, Hans Bertell, Kaj Wiik, and Tuomas Saikkonen.
