Vacation Fatigue and Group Travel Tensions Highlighted in Recent Studies
A survey of 1,000 Britons found that 76 % say travel disrupts their sleep and many feel exhausted on the first days of a holiday. Lisa Artis, deputy CEO of The Sleep Charity, described the phenomenon as “the vacation sleep hangover” and warned that travelers often start trips already sleep‑deprived.
A separate study of 1,000 French respondents commissioned by Skyscanner revealed that two‑thirds have experienced frustration or conflict on group vacations, with more than a quarter saying a trip damaged an important relationship. Psychologist Alicia Sandon explained that “vacations often begin with a collective misunderstanding” and offered five practical steps – clarifying expectations, sharing planning duties, and open communication – to keep group trips harmonious.
