Vadhavan Port project secures environmental clearance

India’s $9.1 billion Vadhavan Port project in Maharashtra has secured final environmental clearances from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. This regulatory milestone allows the project to move into its execution phase.

Designed as a major maritime hub, the deep-draft port is expected to have an annual capacity of 29.8 million TEUs. The facility is intended to serve as a key node in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), facilitating trade integration across those regions. Tenders for the initial dredging and reclamation phase are anticipated to be issued by the end of August 2026.
