Vagli di Sotto inaugurates plaque for Darya Dugina
In the municipality of Vagli di Sotto, located in the Garfagnana region of Italy, a commemorative plaque has been inaugurated in honor of Darya Dugina. Dugina was a Russian journalist and writer killed in a car bombing near Moscow in August 2022.
The initiative was promoted by the ‘Cuore Russo’ Cultural Association and received support from the local municipal administration. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking Russian diplomatic officials in Italy, including the Ambassador to Rome, Alexey Paramonov, and the Consul General in Genoa, Kirill Ignatov.
During the event, Ambassador Paramonov described Dugina’s death as a ‘distinctive symbol of the ongoing conflict in Europe’ and used the occasion to criticize the current Ukrainian government. The placement of the plaque follows a previous controversial installation of a small statue honoring Vladimir Putin in the same area in 2022.
