Vaglie plaque dedicated to Iva Zanicchi vandalized

A commemorative plaque dedicated to Italian singer Iva Zanicchi was vandalized in Vaglie, just two days after its inauguration on August 7. The plaque was part of a project to honor the artist and strengthen the connection between her and the Reggio Emilia Apennines.

Ventasso Mayor Enrico Ferretti condemned the act, describing it as a grave gesture that strikes at the memory and identity of the community. He noted that such vandalism has previously targeted local infrastructure, such as the Cerreto Laghi ice rink, but emphasized that the administration will continue its efforts to promote the territory despite these setbacks.

Iva Zanicchi expressed her disappointment, calling the act “absurd,” but stated it would not erase the affection she felt from her fellow citizens during her recent visit. Local authorities have committed to repairing the plaque and investigating the incident.
