Vagos Volunteer Firefighters celebrate 98th anniversary

The Associação Humanitária dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Vagos celebrated its 98th anniversary with a ceremony attended by firefighters, families, local officials, and various institutions. The event honored nearly a century of community service and included the decoration of parish councils, banking institutions, and private companies for their ongoing support.

During the ceremony, new vehicles and equipment were blessed to enhance the association’s response capabilities. Additionally, Paulo Neto was officially sworn in as the new Commander of the Fire Corps by Miguel Cordeiro, President of the Association’s Board.

Rui Cruz, the Mayor of Vagos, noted that this year marks a significant new cycle for the association, characterized by a new leadership team, a new cooperation protocol with the municipality, and improved fire response systems. He emphasized that civil protection remains a priority for the municipality.
