Vahid Halilhodžić reveals he was clinically dead during surgery

Bosnian football expert Vahid Halilhodžić has revealed dramatic details regarding a life-threatening medical complication he experienced during a shoulder surgery. In an interview with Sportske novosti, Halilhodžić disclosed that he was clinically dead during the procedure.

He explained that despite having medical documentation that should have exempted him from military service, he served in the army in Zagreb, where the surgery took place. He only learned the full extent of the crisis eight months later when a nurse informed him that doctors had to use electric shocks to resuscitate him. He recalled hearing that medical staff had panicked, shouting, ‘We killed Vaha’ during the incident.

In addition to the medical ordeal, Halilhodžić discussed his professional career, including his time managing Dinamo Zagreb and his relationship with former club official Zdravko Mamić.
