Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks Duleep Trophy record with youngest fifty

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set a new Duleep Trophy record by becoming the youngest player to score a half-century in the tournament's history. Representing East Zone in a semifinal against Central Zone, Sooryavanshi reached his fifty in just 42 deliveries, surpassing the previous 57-year-old record held by Laxman Singh.

Sooryavanshi narrowly missed a maiden first-class century, being dismissed for 92 after attempting a large shot off Harsh Dubey. Following his dismissal, the young batter expressed frustration by slamming his bat on the field. He shared a 161-run opening partnership with Abhimanyu Easwaran, who scored 69.

East Zone was dismissed for 266, a score matched by Central Zone. Harsh Dubey claimed a four-wicket haul to help restrict the East Zone lineup. As the match progresses, Central Zone holds a 43-run lead.
