India A opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was involved in a heated on-field altercation with Sri Lanka A player Vishen Halambage after the teams finished a tied One‑Day tri‑nation match in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. The match went to a Super Over, which Sri Lanka A won, and tensions boiled over in fading light. Sri Lanka’s wicket‑keeper Niroshan Dickwella intervened to separate the players.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia said the board will not impose a reprimand, urging players to stay focused on the tournament. Meanwhile, ICC match referee Pradeep Jeyapragash is set to review the incident under Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits inappropriate physical contact. Possible outcomes range from a warning to fines or other sanctions.

The incident has revived discussion of the code’s provisions and the disciplinary process ahead of India A’s upcoming tour of Ireland.
