Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 15-year-old cricketer, set a new record in the Duleep Trophy 2026 semifinal by becoming the youngest player to score a half-century in the tournament's history. Playing for East Zone against Central Zone in Bengaluru, Suryavanshi reached his fifty in just 42 balls at the age of 15 years and 157 days, breaking a 57-year-old record previously held by Laxman Singh.

Suryavanshi's explosive innings included seven boundaries and seven sixes, totaling 92 runs off 81 balls. He narrowly missed a maiden first-class century after being caught by Arshad Khan while attempting a slog sweep against Harsh Dubey. During his knock, he shared a 161-run opening partnership with Abhimanyu Easwaran.

Beyond his batting, the teenager has also contributed with the ball, having previously taken two wickets in a match against North East Zone. He also briefly served as stand-in captain for East Zone after regular captain Ishan Kishan left the field due to a finger injury during the match.
