Vaibhav Suryavanshi named Player of Series in Zimbabwe T20 tour, coach urges fitness focus

Fifteen‑year‑old Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi was crowned Player of the Series after the three‑match T20 series against Zimbabwe. He amassed 151 runs at an average of 50.33, striking at 196.10, including two half‑centuries, nine sixes and four fours, and earned a Player of the Match award for his 81‑run knock on a slow pitch.

Interim head coach VVS Lakshman praised Suryavanshi’s prolific scoring but warned him to improve his fitness, noting a recent injury that required physiotherapy. Lakshman said the young striker must work on conditioning to sustain a long career in Test and ODI cricket, while batting coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Lakshman were credited by Suryavanshi for giving him strategic freedom and guidance during the tour.
