Vakıf Katılım launches hackathon for digital cultural heritage
Vakıf Katılım, Bilişim Vadisi, and the software school 42 Türkiye have announced the ‘KÖK ve KOD Hackathon’ to bring foundation works into the digital world. The event is part of the Vakıf Eserleri Envanter Projesi, an initiative launched in 2022 to record and preserve foundation heritage for future generations.
Open exclusively to 42 Türkiye students, the hackathon invites teams of two to four members to develop mobile or desktop digital solutions. Projects may include audio guides, digital storytelling, accessibility solutions, gamified cultural routes, and augmented reality experiences designed to increase the visibility and accessibility of cultural heritage.
Applications are open until October 3. Finalists will develop their projects between an online kickoff on October 8 and a final event scheduled for November 7-8. Participants will receive mentorship from entrepreneurship mentors at Bilişim Vadisi and experts in the field of foundation works. The top three teams will receive various awards.
