VakıfBank announces 50 billion lira green transformation financing

VakıfBank, the Zero Waste Foundation, and the Credit Guarantee Fund (KGF) have introduced a new financing package in Istanbul aimed at supporting sustainable production and green transformation investments. The initiative, titled the “Geleceğe Değer” (Value to the Future) package, targets providing 50 billion lira in resources to the Turkish economy.

General Manager Osman Arslan stated that the funding aims to help businesses meet current investment needs while preparing for future production requirements. The package includes 12 different financing solutions covering areas such as renewable energy, solar power plants, energy storage, and machinery renewal. Additionally, the program supports digital transformation through investments in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.

The initiative comes ahead of the COP31 meetings in Antalya. Arslan emphasized the critical role of financial institutions in transitioning from policy to action regarding climate change, noting that banks must consider social and environmental impact analyses, such as carbon emissions and waste management, when providing credit to industrial sectors.
