Vakfıkebir Municipality halts unauthorized park construction

Vakfıkebir Municipality has issued a public statement regarding the unauthorized construction of a children's park in the Hürriyet Neighborhood. The municipality clarified that the project lacks the necessary permits, approvals, and licenses required for such works.

According to the municipality, the project was initiated by the neighborhood mukhtar (headman) without official municipal involvement. The local government stated that no municipal personnel, vehicles, heavy machinery, or budget resources were used for the construction.

Citing Municipal Law No. 5393 and Metropolitan Municipality Law No. 5216, the municipality emphasized that the authority to manage parks and green spaces rests solely with authorized municipalities. The statement noted that a neighborhood mukhtar does not have the legal authority to unilaterally establish public facilities or create obligations on behalf of the municipality.
