Val de Sarthe announces changes to waste collection services

The Communauté de communes du Val de Sarthe has announced a transition to a new waste collection system effective March 1, 2027. To prepare for this change, the community has launched a survey to determine the appropriate volume for free bins to be distributed to households.

Between November 2026 and February 2027, residents will receive two free bins: a grey-lidded bin for household waste and a yellow-lidded bin for recyclable packaging and paper. Glass collection will continue at existing voluntary drop-off points. Starting March 1, 2027, household waste and recyclables will be collected via door-to-door service on alternating weeks.

Local authorities stated that there will be no increase in individual waste management fees for 2027, as 2026 rates will be maintained. The new system will also account for housing configurations and vehicle accessibility, potentially utilizing collective bins or regrouping points where necessary.
