Val di Fassa prepares San Pellegrino for Alpine World Cup Jan 9‑10 2027

The International Ski Federation (FIS) carried out its traditional summer inspection of the La VolatA course in the San Pellegrino ski area of Val di Fassa, Italy, ahead of the women's speed events of the Alpine World Cup scheduled for 9‑10 January 2027. It will be the fourth time the venue hosts the competition.

FIS director Peter Gerdol, accompanied by deputy Alberto Senigagliesi and race officials, noted that the finish area (parterre) has been enlarged and reshaped to improve space allocation, and that the jumps will be less aggressive to suit the expected snow and temperature conditions. Gerdol said the venue was not originally on the calendar but was added after other sites withdrew, adding that “the committee has demonstrated its value and continuous growth.”

Local officials, including Gianni Rasom, president of Val di Fassa Grandi Eventi, stressed the emphasis on safety and thanked the FIS for its sensitivity. Preparations involve coordination among the regional tourism authority, local ski clubs, schools and provincial bodies to ensure the event runs smoothly.
