Val di Fiemme hosts Colombian peace and culture event

The Val di Fiemme region in Italy will host ‘EVENTO COLOMBIA’ on August 22 and 23, a cultural and solidarity initiative. The event aims to support the Papa Giovanni XXIII Community and its nonviolent peace corps, Operazione Colomba.

Operazione Colomba consists of volunteers who live in conflict-affected areas to provide a civilian, unarmed presence. In Colombia, the organization works with the Comunidad de Paz de San José de Apartadó to promote dialogue and human rights.

The program begins Saturday, August 22, at the Predazzo Cinema Teatro, featuring testimonies from volunteers regarding their experiences in Colombia and a musical tribute to Franco Battiato by Le Meccaniche Celesti Quintet. On Sunday, August 23, activities move to Villa Flora park in Ziano di Fiemme, including peace-themed animations by the Orquidea association and a traditional Colombian lunch.
