Val d’Orcia railway celebrates 30 years of Treno Natura service
The Val d’Orcia railway is marking the 30th anniversary of the Treno Natura, a tourist service on the Asciano-Monte Antico line. An event held at the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena includes a video presentation by the Municipality of Siena and a discussion on the railway's role in sustainable tourism.
The celebration also features the presentation of the book “Il binario in Val d’Orcia,” which explores reflections and memories of the tourist train from 1996 to 2026. Experts and volunteers will discuss how the infrastructure has evolved into a model for slow tourism, connecting local villages, traditions, and the landscapes of the Crete Senesi and Val d’Orcia.
