Italy promotes autumn tourism through foliage, hiking, and local traditions

Various regions across Italy are highlighting autumn tourism opportunities, focusing on foliage, hiking, and local traditions. In Val Gardena, the Granbaita Dolomites is hosting the ‘Törggelen Experience’, a program centered on traditional peasant customs involving new wine and seasonal harvests.

In the Lake District, activities include the return of the ‘Treno del Foliage’ and various trekking routes through the Ossola valleys and Lake Maggiore. Piedmont offers scenic running and hiking paths around the Cinque Laghi di Ivrea and the Canavese region. In Tarvisio, the Valcanale forests provide walking trails such as the Sentiero della Bobnia.

Other regional highlights include the historical-natural walks in Poggio Ferrato within the Oltrepò Pavese, and the exploration of medieval towers and vineyards in Barberino Val d’Elsa, Tuscany. In Molise, the Bosco Faiete Natural Park is hosting a guided trek to the Monte Vairano Sannitic site. Additionally, the Vesuvius National Park is organizing ‘Sulle orme della Fenice’, an initiative focused on forest resilience and fire prevention following the 2025 wildfires.
