Val Johnson seeks re-election as School District 23 Board Chair

Val Johnson, the Board Chair of School District 23 (SD23), has announced her candidacy for re-election to the Board of Trustees. Johnson, who was first elected as a trustee in 2022 and assumed the role of Board Chair within the last year, cited her background in early childhood education and her advocacy for families as primary motivations for her campaign.

During her initial term, Johnson noted her involvement in several key initiatives, including investments in school infrastructure, the appointment of a new Superintendent of Schools, the updating of the District’s Strategic Plan, and the modernization of governance practices and Board policies.

The election for school trustees is scheduled to take place during the 2026 General Local Elections on October 17.
