Valais announces cultural pass for youth and celebrates cycling axis anniversary

The Canton of Valais is introducing a cultural general pass (AG culturel) for the 2026-2027 school year. Approximately 4,000 young residents born in 2010 and living in the canton will receive the benefit, following a recommendation from the Youth Parliament. The initiative, a collaboration between the Service de la culture, the association AG culturel, and Culture Valais, aims to encourage youth to discover and engage with diverse cultural offerings.

Beneficiaries will receive a tote bag containing a voucher to activate their free cultural pass, which is valid for one year. Distribution will primarily occur through secondary education institutions. The AG culturel association, founded in 2012, provides young people under 26 with access to over 380 cultural venues across six cantons for a low annual fee.

Separately, the Valais cantonal cycling axis is celebrating its 30th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the Service de la mobilité has organized a festive day on Sunday, September 6. The event includes guided bike and walking tours across various regions, including routes from Naters to Visp and Sierre to Sion, as well as a 128-kilometer challenge for more athletic cyclists.
