Valdai Discussion Club holds 23rd annual meeting in Moscow region

The 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club is taking place in the Moscow region from September 28 to October 1. The event, which includes approximately 120 participants from 40 countries, was moved from Sochi to the Moscow region due to logistical considerations, according to Andrey Bystritskiy, chairman of the Valdai Club Development and Support Foundation.

The meeting’s central theme is “Responsibility for the Future: Limits of the Possible, or Limitless Possibilities?” During the opening sessions, the club presented its annual report, “No Panic: The State and Responsibility for the Future,” which addresses the role of the state in managing international political chaos and technological advancements.

Fabiano Mielniczuk, a political science professor and member of the club, noted during the forum that Western leaders are utilizing artificial intelligence and major tech conglomerates to project power and impose specific moralities. He cautioned that the use of AI in political practice can lead to “hallucinations” where logically coherent statements lack a basis in reality, potentially threatening global stability.
