Valdarno region hosts cycling and cultural festivals in Tuscany

The Valdarno region in Tuscany is hosting multiple cultural and sporting events this weekend.

The 14th edition of “La Marzocchina,” a vintage cycling event, is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026. Organized by Pro Loco San Giovanni Valdarno, Valdarno Bike Road ETS, and Confcommercio Firenze-Arezzo, the event offers three different routes ranging from 27 to 78 kilometers. Participants will traverse scenic areas including the Enel mining area in Santa Barbara, the Chianti hills, and the Setteponti road.

Simultaneously, the second edition of the “Festival delle Balze del Valdarno” is underway. Following an initial turnout of over 1,000 people for a sunset walk, the festival continues with a 12-kilometer hike, an en plein air painting contest, and live artistic performances. The event also features hot air balloon flights and local gastronomic tastings promoted by regional administrations and local Pro Loco organizations.
