Valdas Dambrauskas leads Sabah FK to Champions League clash at Old Trafford

Valdas Dambrauskas, the manager of Azerbaijani club Sabah FK, is set to lead his team in a Champions League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford. This appearance marks a significant milestone in his career, bringing him full circle to the stadium where he previously worked with Manchester United Soccer Schools.

Dambrauskas’ journey to the Champions League includes a unique origin story: in 2002, he won approximately £725 on the Lithuanian version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’. He used those winnings to fund his move to London to pursue football coaching education.

His professional path has since spanned various European leagues and clubs, including roles at Fulham, Zalgiris Vilnius, Ludogorets, and Hajduk Split, where he won the Croatian Cup. Sabah FK, founded in 2017, reached the Champions League group stages after successfully navigating four qualifying rounds.
